The Lady in Red

Until that night I had never been so much captivated by a ladies’ looks. I could barely keep my eyes off her. It's looked like she was the only person I could see at the meeting. I am not a person who pays attention to details but this time around I did. She wore an off-shoulder red dress with classic red heels. She applied a red lip gloss and had white beaded bracelets on her left wrist. She had a protocol tag indicating she was one of the ushers at the meeting. She smiled at me as I drew closer and ushered me into the service. "You are welcome sir," she said softly. The night was still young and the program had just begun.  A friend's church was hosting a notable prophet of God that night and my friend had advised me to be there early to avoid joining the overflow. 

Surprisingly, I kept seeing this lady everywhere I turned throughout the service. I don't know whether it's because her outfit made her stand out or I was just having wandering eyes. Her tight-fitting, well-shaped dress revealed her feminine curves perfectly, with a bit of her dazzling cleavage on display. I was completely carried away. I was still battling these lustful thoughts in my mind when the man of God pointed at my direction and asked me to stand to my feet. Guys, my heart skipped a beat. "The Lord says I should tell you that whatever you are thinking about and desiring in your heart you shall have it." He paused and continued, "tell me what you are desiring right now." I began to fumble with words as I tried to think of something to say. OMG! What a mess I made out of myself that night. I know I missed out on spiritual blessings that night because I struggled to keep my focus. Come to think of it, if there was any place I was going to be provoked to lust should it be the church? But I just couldn't help myself. 

Although I take full responsibility for letting my eyes wander and my heart to lust even at church service, I think the lady in red contributed significantly to my problem. While I can't blame her for her natural curves and endowment I got some few questions I wish she could answer. Couldn't she be a little bit thoughtful about her appearance since she was coming to church? Couldn't she be considerate about her choice of dress? Couldn't she have chosen less tighten and revealing clothing? Aren't Christian ladies supposed to dress in a way that draws honour to the name of Christ instead of drawing all attention to themselves? Aren't modern-day Christian ladies supposed to model their dress sense along the "old fashioned" Biblical standards of respectable and modest apparel which is proper for women who profess godliness instead of blindly imitating godless and provocative modern fashion? 

Here is what I want Christian sisters to understand; men are under attack. The devil is almost succeeding in using that which God intended to be a helpmeet to be our 'doom meet'. We are exposed to nudity and provoked to lust on our screens and the streets. The church community is our safe haven. If you who are our sisters in Christ join the world to come after us with sensual images and sexual innuendos, then you are a traitor. Listen, Christian men too have problems with their eyes - one that your decency and modesty coupled with the grace of God can help cure. Blessings!
