WHAT ABOUT UNPROTECTED KISS?
You might have heard of unprotected sex, but most definitely, you have no idea of unprotected kiss. I am sure that is a major reason why you clicked the link to read this. Anyway, thanks for coming… Lol… You can be sure of learning something out of this piece.
The sexual revolution of the 1960s resulted in a drastic relaxation of sexual morals, aided by easy availability of pregnancy control pills. The revolution brought about a popular slogan; “if it feels good just do it.” This revolution which started in America wasn’t just an American phenomenon, as Europe also experienced its own uproar. In fact, much of the world quickly joined in throwing off sexual restraints and good morals, and the result is what we see in our society today. The urge to write this piece came as a result of an article I read recently online titled “A kiss is just a Kiss.” The article which was written by a medical doctor of San Francisco General Hospital, named Paul A. Volberding, in an attempt to prove that the HIV/AIDS virus isn’t likely to be transmitted through kissing, ended in a way that got me upset. The doctor ended by saying, “kiss anyone you want, anywhere you want, but never ever have unprotected sex.” Gosh!
I know someone may say that there is no point in getting upset over this because he was speaking from a medical perspective. Well, as a young man who have suffered many untold consequences of sexual sins, and is now jealous for sexual purity, I had a big problem with it. Besides, I didn’t read it with a medical lens but a biblical lens, and I wondered how many people could be carried away into sin by this advice. Moreover, you will agree with me that medicine came to meet godliness, so we can’t belittle godly standards in the name of what medical practitioners are saying.
Another thing worth noting is this, by saying “… never ever have unprotected sex”, he means always have protected sex. Then another question pops up, “how protected is protected sex?” Big question isn’t it? Come on, let’s save that talk for another day because I am already talking too much. But truth is, these are some of the lies which have crept into the minds of modern day believers, empowering us to live in sexual sins of diverse kinds.
Back to my unprotected kiss. I know a good number of us haven’t gone “all the way” (to have sex), but I also know many of such people have been smitten by the “just a kiss” syndrome. We do almost everything (kissing, fondling, smooching, dry hump etc.) with boyfriends and girlfriends but do our very best to keep it short of penetration. We believe that if there is no penetration, then it isn’t fornication. Maybe we need to be reminded of Jesus’ word in Matthew 5:28. Google it in case you don’t have a Bible. Once there is no intercourse we are able to deceive ourselves that we are still virgins, holy and haven’t really sinned. Friend, that is an unprofitable word game you are playing with yourself. When the Bible talks about PURITY, it is talking about a kind of holiness that affect your whole being (heart, mind, body and spirit) not a theoretical point of having a hymen intact or anything of that sort. You may be keeping your virginity (haven’t had sex yet), but permit me to ask, “what happened to your PURITY when your lips locked up with his/hers and your tongues wriggled each other’s mouth, with your hands moving carelessly around each other’s body leaving you with wet pants?” You do well to keep your “virginity” but what about your PURITY? That’s my question. You can answer frankly for yourself.
In 1Thessalonians 4:4, Bible teaches us to learn how to control our bodies in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like pagans who do not know God. So before you engage yourself in anything you call “just”, pause and ask yourself; “could this act be classified as holy and honorable or it could be in the passionate lust class?”
This is my point, a kiss is not just a kiss. Once it is erotic, it is an act of fornication too. Already, many have done ‘undoable’ and unthinkable things, and it all began with “just a kiss”. You know what I am talking about. You are permitted to kiss him/her after the exchange of vows. I believe that’s the reason why during weddings we hear something like; “now you may kiss the bride”, suggesting that you now have the ‘rightful right’ to do so. Until then, any kiss you give is an UNPROTECTED KISS, and you can be 100% sure of being affected by Sexually Transmitted Demons (STDs). Thanks for sharing.
