Masturbation and Stress...
DOES MASTURBATION HELP IN RELEASING STRESS?
"Comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house a guest, and then becomes a host, then a master. And then it becomes a tamer, and with a hook and whip, it makes puppets of your larger desires."-- Kahlil Gibran. Please save this quote as we dialogue, by reading this piece patiently.
It is said that Masturbation is a gentle stress reliever. People go length by adding a scientific rationalisation to it; masturbation causes dopamine, a chemical associated with pleasure, to be released into your body.
Simply put, dopamine makes you feel good and puts you in a better mood. On top of that, the hormone oxytocin, which is released during orgasm, lowers cortisol levels.
Cortisol is the primary stress hormone and is usually present in high levels in stressed out people. Touching yourself and climaxing can boost these chemicals and, as a result, help you feel more at peace.
Very interesting! This rationalisation is not entirely false since the stress or discomfort gets paused for a while. Can we then say; masturbation is a stress reliever?
For quite a short time the relief is felt, but the guilt and shame which is added to it aggravates the stress. Instead, masturbation puts you in a cycle, making you ultimately clung to it and helplessly makes you its slave.
This is how the cycle works: you feel stress, anxiety or discomfort, or perhaps all three. Thus, by masturbating, you get rid of your stress, anxiety, and pain, resulting in masturbation preceding more significant stress, anxiety, and discomfort. You try to clear it again and the cycle goes on.
Can you see how the feelings of stress, anxiety and discomfort dealt with by masturbation puts you and keeps you in the cycle of hopelessness?
Now, is masturbation a stress reliever? The answer is NO! We permanently negotiate temporary suffering if we embrace such ideas and rationalisation.
THE WAY FORWARD
Taking you down memory lane, allow me, now, to decrypt you off the quote I told you to keep by Kahlil Gibran, which says, "Comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house a guest, and then becomes a host, then a master. And then it becomes a tamer, and with a hook and whip, it makes puppets of your larger desires."
What if, instead of seeking relief for stress, you decide to experience it fully without seeking such assistance?
The fact is that when we feel very uncomfortable, unhappy and disappointed, it is likely that our most beautiful moments are about occurring.
Because in those moments, we probably leave our comfort areas to seek more true significance, which is motivated by our discomfort.
Instead of looking for ways to relieve stress and discomfort, realise that those moments push us out of our comfort zones to find meaning to our situations.
So now when you feel stressed and discomforted, take heart because you’re stepping out of your rut, expanding your comfort zone and beginning the path towards a loving life.

ReplyDeleteYou can't play with a snake without getting bitten, masturbation ain't an option as its one of the gateways to lust. Let's not deceive ourselves think masturbating helps us to release stress it rather helps u to relinquish the pleasures of sin in you leading you to astray. Keep the body clean.
